I purchased a new black cartridge, put it in then it ask me to align. i've tried changing the cartridges but it doesnt give me anything. Maybe a thin oil added to the formula would prevent this, or bagging the printer between uses. Jackson under the printer cover as a bribe. replaced with 2 "dead" carts, a 57 dated in 2005, and a 56 dated in 2007. Push down on the print cartridge to release it and then pull it out of its slot. see this

Up to this point, I was never able to complete and alignment because the printer would freeze in the middle of the alignment process without doing any printing. My #57 color cart. If the LCD now shows no error, the original error was caused by a problem that is fixed by HP's firmware update. Fortunately I bought the machine from Best Buy and they felt so bad for me, they gave me a full store credit for what I originally paid for the printer and I bought myself a Cannon for a difference of $20.
I removed my friend's black cartridge and the printer returned to its previous non-working state. I had another 2210 that was doing the same thing, but luckily it has one good lid with the "T" clip remaining. Before I read this forum I attempted to work with the HP technical help without any success. I feel like HP is ripping me off. Close the printer and look at the LCD display. a connection issue...mines happly printing away. Let me know before I start climbing.
