I posted a link up above to the powers that be at HP. HP tried to make this a "warranty" issue but warranty has nothing to do with it since HP failed to disclose this information when the machine was purchased. It will check cartridges electrically for various things and will reject cartridges that fail. If they don't, they can join the folks at Toshiba and have a nice day at the unemployment office when the company lays them off due to lack of sales. Source

Given the machine's age, and the fact that having it cleaned would have probably cost as much as a new multi-function color inkjet printer, I opted for the new multi-functionprinter. We get ignored. I called tech support and basically was told there is no way to repair a HP printer and was offer a deal to buy a new one... Some of them like to get "out in front" of the process and resolve cases here and there.

They do not resolve the issue(s). It's not been heavily used. We had one in with shipping damage, so it got used for parts.It is a bit awkward to do but not too badTake the carriage out of your faulty one, so that you are confident in how to do it. Good Luck!! Our findings have been HP Printers are very biased against refilled \ recycled cartridges. If they don't cooperate, ask to speak to someone higher on the food chain. It almost went word for word them same as your experience.

There are more than 8000 people looking at this tread, so it's a big problem.Will HP buy this greatly designed printer back from me ? The expiration date on the faulty black cartridge was 2012/03/04.I imagine you're pretty busy, but perhaps you could advise me on one related issue.
