the client can print to the printer fine when the print server is removed from the process (using its own driver only) and when switching to the universal driver (there must not be a conflict with that particular driver.) Ignoring the anonymous comment from 2011-12-12, if enough users complain, someone will listen. all my other printers are dell printers and seem to work just fine using the Lexmark generic driver.
