This machine has been running flawlessly for the last 8 years, and has had three OS upgrades. So at this point I'm not sure if I'm having a technical issue or if its just another case of an user error. I do have two boot options now however. Are you new to LinuxQuestions.org?

Removing the disk drive will fix it, but not a solution, since i need the additional disk space.
