The third volume discusses more advanced topics that may not interest all zPDT users. The first volume introduces zPDT and provides reference material for zPDT commands and device managers. When he tries to allocate a member within the dataset : TPUN011.NEWMAPST(map), he gets a message as "BLDL error" I tried searching some error related to PDF as starting with ISRxxxx but I was not able to fetch any error codes relating to "BLDL" Error in the syslog. After that, the original members will be accessible again. With today's technology you do not need to worry so much about disk rotation speed. If you wish to experiment, take your syslog data. find more

zPDT is a PC Linux application. Thanks. The correct coding for SYSUT2 is //SYSUT2 DD DISP=SHR,DSN=mypds(member) Second, the blksize is not optimal. A PDSE does not follow the same process so there is not really a comparison.
For some reason the storage group is NOT backed up so I cannot restore it from an old backup. The systems that are discussed in this document are complex, with elements of Linux (for the underlying PC machine), IBM z/Architecture® (for the core zPDT elements), System z I/O functions (for emulated I/O devices), z/OS (the most common System z operating system), and various applications and subsystems under z/OS. This will over write the PDS Directory in many cases and there by destroying the PDS. Look at the attributes. The IBM order numbers for the three volumes are SG24-7721, SG24-7722, and SG24-7723.The systems discussed in these volumes are complex, with elements of Linux (for the underlying PC machine), z/Architecture® (for the core zPDT elements), System z I/O functions (for emulated I/O devices), and z/OS (providing the System z application interface), and possibly with other System z operating systems.

I tried browsing several members but I get the same error message. If there were members and now it shows 0 Dir Blocks, then someone used an IEBGENER (or similar program) to add a member and did not specify the member name. The second volume describes the installation of zPDT (including the underlying Linux, and a particular z/OS® distribution) and basic usage patterns. I recovered the PDS from a DFHSM backup but when I try to browse any members I still get the I/O error.
zPDT is a PC Linux application. If the incorrect output DCB was specified in a program, it needs to be fixed there: this program should then be rerun to open the PDS with its correct attributes; then close the PDS.
