The machines are fantastic and fun for all the family so come on down for some serious interaction wtih our gallery based works!The demonstrations take place on Saturday 19th February at either 2-3pm or 4-5pm. We also welcome students, graduates, those thinking about setting up their own creative business, andalso anyone who is looking to commission or employ creative practitioners. Visitors are encouraged to bring friends or collaborate with other people in order to complete the tasks. Highlighting human reliance on robotics and technology, it consists of a series of mechanisms which overcomplicate simple tasks and encourage hapless visitors to make mistakes as they attempt to use them. For Human Error here at Chinese Arts Centre they will be working with previous Household member Dario Utreras. We easily forget how we managed without these machines before we invented them.

The collaboration necessary to operate the machines follows the ethos of Household projects. http://www.cfcca.org.uk/archive/2011/human-error-household-dario-uteras the photocopier, for example, requires the input of twenty people in order to work at all, while the printer by contrast involves only two individuals, but accumulates successive marks throughout the exhibition, ultimately depicting the contribution of hundreds of visitors. we and our readers have fun with entertaining ones. all of the intentionally overly complicated but essentially low-tech machines require the interaction of at least two visitors working together in order to function, encouraging human error and frustration even as it brings individuals together towards a common purpose.
