See when you get HTTP 404 and when you get HTTP 500. –Shivan Dragon Nov 24 '11 at 13:16 | show 6 more comments up vote 2 down vote accepted I still dont know what was wrong, but I've created another servlet called user, and in the web.xml I've added /servlet before the class and navigated to it in the browser (http://localhost:8080/web/servlet/User) and it worked. User pages.User User /servlet/User Thanks everyone for your help! Regards. Then access a non existing URL. What would be a proper translation for "Bullshit"? http://orgias.org/http-status/http-status-500-error-in-jboss.html

Next, does the server.log file show any problems when starting the application server, or when deploying the application?

Mark E Hansen Ranch Hand Posts: 650 posted 6 years ago After doing a little more reading, I see that the context path for web application on the JBoss application server default to the name of the War file (without the .war extension), but can be changed. Since it can see the Login.html then the webapp is there. As I said in my earlier post, the server.log file is indicating that your web application (this is the War, not the Ear) is deploying with a context path (ctxPath) of /, which I'm pretty sure is not right. The section of the application.xml file should look like this: HelloWorldApp helloworld.war /hello To make sure you're looking at the correct info, I would take the actual Ear file that is getting deployed, and extract it to a temporary directory, then inspect the contents/files there.

I am still using JBoss 4.0.5GA as the server and the config has not changed in that server at all.
