So I'm confused on why/how you are getting the decode LEDS, since a) no DC power has been applied to the system to initiate POST and b) the switches should not be in decode mode. They sat in this state for a month or so and upon their intial startup, we received this error on two boxes. Everything seems to be "on" except the CPU fans and I don't think the hdd's are spinning.

At least they don’t AFTER they install two power supplies in a system specifically configured for a single power supply. it's always just amber.
