CUPS consists of a print spooler and scheduler, a filter system that converts the print data to a format that the printer will understand, and a backend system that sends this data to the print device. the error msgs in the console are all "prl_" related. All other types of formatted documents including WORD and PAGES print correctly, and timely with no problem.I am using Adobe reader 10.1.4 which has worked with no problem til now.

I printed the pdf file as an image. Check This Out brownja, Nov 12, 2009 #6 nepptuner Messages: 3 solution part 1 - on windows xp you can find the system printer hp 8500ps. - choose this printer in windows if you want to print. - all prints you make in windows via parallels will be send to your mac printer (provided if your brother 6490cw works on mac).

You can not post a blank message. After some lengthy discussions with Apple technical support (who were very very good) that problem has just been solved. Even Print Preview doen't work.

CUPS uses the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) as the basis for managing print jobs and queues. - SourceI hope this helps. * It only takes a second to click (the 'like'icon)below to say thanks!

It only seems to cause problems from what I can tell. chops Messages: 3 I am starting another thread here because I have read the related threads on this board (searched for "pstopdffilter") and none of the solutions work for me, so I am thinking the error number 13 may represent a different issue from the -31000 error posted elsewhere. After hooking up the USB plug from the printer to my Mac 10.6.8 is when the PDF issue seemed to arise, but that makes no sense to me. Re: Mac Acrobat Pro 9.3 can't print : pstopdffilter/pstocupsraster failed with err number 13 fraivert Apr 26, 2010 10:52 AM (in response to seichert77) After trying many other things, I managed to print a pdf document only by ticking the box "Print as image" in the "Advanced features" window. It works, but you have to tick this option each time, as it is not a default option. This means that the problem comes from the Adobe software and not from the printer pilot or the printer software of Mac OS X. Had I tried printing my pdf's with 'Preview', [on the new HP 8620 I just bought], I wouldn't have spent all that time tassling with Adobe's 30000 failure code - that lead me to think my new printer was the problem. In a Linux guest OS, or if you do not have Parallels Tools installed in your Windows guest OS, no matter what type of printer you have, install either the HP Color LaserJet 8500 PS or Apple Color LW 12/660 PS printer driver..

After that I was printing all my pdf's without issue.
