I think this has fixed it, at least for a while. this contact form I thought maybe it just wanted the default of .89", so I tried .90" and that worked, so I tried .95" - knowing I had a lot of room - and the printer cut off from 1/2 of the 2nd to last column on.I next tried the spreadsheet that was saved to pdf. Don't discount the possibility that the cartridge has failed. http://orgias.org/hp-officejet/hp-officejet-7310-error-messages.html How do I fix this. Thanks,Ddday Respond to this 0 First determine if you have the original version V40, the later models have service station problems, the original is a C4713A, it is built on the DeskJet 9XX engine. If you need parts I have some from the later versions, the carriage parts are interchangeable. Here's the procedure I would use:Clean electrical contacts on cartridge and in carriage with a paper towel or cotton swap moistened with water, use distilled if available. While cleaning pins on the carriage board look closely and see in one has lost it's springiness, if this has happened the board needs to be replaced.Examine color cartridge contacts for unusual build-up and check that the cartridge is not expired, (it should work if expired), if expired return to store before fooling with the darn thing. If it still fails gently scrub the contacts on the cartridge with a kitchen scrubbing sponge or a wet steel wool pad, only scrub over the contacts 2-3 times or you might clean the gold off of them.Replace The carriage board.Replace the carriage cable.I have about 3 spare carriage assemblies with cables and ink cartridges for this unit in the basement.

This got me to thinking about margins and the move from openoffice (OO) to libreoffice. When I opened up ods file (which again is a spreadsheet with a title in heading and date in footer going approximately from margin to margin) I tried to print with both gutenprint driver and cups driver (again, have my same printer installed twice - once with each driver).
