If the light goes out and the carriage starts to move, quickly releasing the linkage will abort it's traveling clear to the left, and it should stop centered as it would for cartridge replacement. Does anyone know which of the power-on reset routines (e.g., unplug, hold down "3" and "#" keys, reconnect power cord) will restore factory defaults (which will then make me then redo the cartridge date fix)?Thanks!- DDB by DDB on Oct 19, 2009 at 10:34am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 There's more than 1 mirror. There have been many meathods described for this, but the easiest is to take off the small glass on the left, and pull the belt to bring the scanner to the far left. I hate to throw it away but I don't want to start replacing major components, yet. I don't know if that's the case or not, because there was a time, when I first experienced this problem. Thanks.

I think I have determined that my problem is motherboard failure. We followed them and now our HP 7130 is back up and running with no scanner failure. I didn't put my battery back in since all I use it for is printing, and it works fine. - unknown 8 I repeatedly have scanner failure problems, with the messages "warming up" followed by inaction followed by a "scanner failure" message. Let me know if you have any please.

Used Windex to clean the main glass (wasn't all that dirty), and used qtips and dilute alcohol to clean scanner mirror. What I mean is, the lights flash on, really fast, just ONCE and then off.

The steps below will clear the error condition, which should solve the problem if it is caused by an incorrect detection of air. I have cleaned the inside of the printer, the rollers, the excess ink buildup in there, with clear water and q-tips, also I have rebooted and reset the machine in acord with other instructions.

unless you are super pro, don't waste your time and go buy a real one from canon or some other Japaneses manufacturers.this hp is and has now become forever pure junk in every thing they make from pc t laptop to printer.thanks guys for trying to give your best. In some HP inkjets this can cause current to flow between two metal peices and indicate a carriage problem when it is really a spitoon overflow. Check This Out They say, if you teach someone to fish...Thanks.vok - unknown 1 Hi just spent 2 weeks trying to figure this out and i read a post where someone was having the same problem and fix it by cleaning the inside of the glass but it was the g85 model so i spent 1 1/2 hours and finally figured out how to open the 7130 scanner to clean the bottom of glass and you know what, it works great no problems at all.

Remove the Control Panel overlay. I called HP to get help and they kept me online for two hours with zero help.I would appreciate anyone who can give me direction on how to repair this. Removing it worked instantly for me. Category:Printers Share this conversation Expert: Sandeep Pamarati replied6 years ago.

The screw can now be seen using a flashlight but may be obscured by some wires. It would be wonderful if everything worked as its SUPPOSED to!! i have pull really hard on it as well! I cleaned the underside of the platten and got some unnoticeable film of black dust.

I have tried all the other checks and tricks listed on this site that I thought to be relevant. Note: the linkage is shown with the left fascia removed: all you will normally see is the pointed tip coming through a small opening, but the photo can help show you exactly where to look for it.Check these 2 items first and reply as to their status before moving on to next-likely causes. - PrarieCat 0 Think you may have the dreaded "dead service station motor"? The voltage will be marked on it. I've tried power cycling it a few times, and now either the scanner head won't even start to move and I get an error message after attempted warmup, or the scanner head tries to move but fails to move more than a bit and then the error message appears.I've only done the "minor reset" procedure and haven't tried to download updated drivers recently (I had all the functionality I needed on the scanning/copying side via the HP software until the scanner failed).
