I think I'll take it home and see what happens. - opcso 0 After reading all the suggestions about putting the board in tothe oven, I finally had to try it....I had 5 defective formatter boards (HP LJ p2015) and did several tests in the oven...After putting it in for 9 minutes at 210 degrees C, 3 of the boards started right up and still are working ok!!So, everyone out there with defective formatter boards (P2015 orP3005) just try it and let me know if it did work for you also. Since I started baking, I had one JetDirect card fail again and that was after 18 months. I first tested that it was the formatter board that was the problem by removing the LHS of the printer with a flat screwdriver to prise it off at the back (the whole side not just the hatch) and pressing the 'print without formatter' button hidden just below the bottom right of the formatter board with a pen - this worked (page with horizontal lines came out) so formatter was the problemI took off the formatter and put it in the oven for 8 minutes at 190 celcius (375 farenheit) after cooling I replaced it and so far the printer is now working fine. Both do not satisfy the SN requirement from the Service Bulletin, I am going to order new formatter boards for both.The updated Part Number for today on Part Surfer is: Q7847-61006On chip was an ST, one was a Samsung. He said there is a problem with the formatter board and gave me also the part number of a new board.

The message disappears after a few seconds, and the device returns to Ready or BUSY state. by cscotech on Apr 8, 2008 at 12:18pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 An ST Chip means its a THOMSON SEMICONDUCTOR chipThe Toshiba chip clearly says TOSHIBA.I got a new board with an ST chip a short while agoand the board seemed to work ok but the ones withthe SAMSGUNG chips have always worked consistantly.Anybody ever tried to replace chips like these.I wonder could a component level repair be possible?Someone do a google on the part number and checkavailability !! The device might have received PS code although it is set to PCL. Check that you are using the correct device driver.
