From the main front-panel menu, select the Ink menu and press Enter. The print head is moving past this spot during start-up, so there is no dirt preventing it from moving.From these results I see that the print head is physically able to move the cutter, there is no junk on the chrome bar impeding the cutter and print head movements, the cutter is properly seated on its tracks, and the print head is able to be moved electronically along the entire axis, including past the point where it must pick up the cutter. No junk, broken teeth, or any other visible problems.Then I looked closely at the metal & plastic encoder strip that stretches across the paper under the print head belt. If it moves too far the cutter finger loops around the print head hook and does not engage. I did put a little oil on the cutter end just in case, but this did not clear up the error. If the error comes back, you may have a bad carriage sensor.
No more errors.Jason, thanks for the thought. For me, I believe it is due to two little 3/4 circle clips that fit into the carriage assembly and onto the sliding rod. So i think i got start up print heads for nothing LOL oh well. his comment is here I have updated it to the latest firmware version. If connections appear normal, replace the Service Station (refer to pages 8-52 of the Service Manual). And thecarriage movementtest passes, and only moves from the service station to the middle of the axis.Any thoughts?P.S. 86.01 Possible Paper Jam

In the last year we have replaced the trailing cable, ink supply station, service station, encoder strip, carriage belt and now the carriage. Solution 1: If this error code appeared but was not caused by a paper jam, then try the following: Enter the Printer Information and check the Scan-Axis usage. Some times the cable will catch bad enough to shut the carriage axis down which is why it is stopping.
