The file could be too complex in which case the printer is unable to process the file with available resources. Did you download all the latest patches for it? have a peek here

Ask the community. The files I'm plottin are drawings with no more of 1Mb of size, only with lines, some hatch's, text of shx fonts, very simple drawings. (save your work first as a new file).  Another thought would be to check and see if HP has a ppd file for Indesign to use.  It may be that the colors you are using in InDesign are not exactly correct for the plotter and it is having to do a bunch of translation...
