If it weren't for that, I'd have just presumed the drive was no good. Wiping the harddrive fixes some issues, but like he said not all, and certainly no hardware issues. It sounds like an issue with the SATA controller on the board. I searched 3F0 on the web and found that hundreds of HP customers are angry yet some have resolution that either cannot function in my issue or I tried the "FIX" to no avail. I tried to get into the laptop's BIOS but it doesn't allow me to do so. They very rarely go bad because they have no moving parts, but if it is bad it would give these symptoms.Even if the G42 drive does not boot to Windows in the other computer the data on it is likely intact if you get a SATA to USB adapter and plug into another computer the data can be recovered. Also worth mentioning, the other laptop wouldn't boot to windows with the G42's hard drive either. Here is the best advice I can give you.

The drive from the Toshiba laptop boots normally in the HP and the drive from the HP boots in the Toshiba. I did all the things you advice me to, but ...same thing!
