I tried several fixes, restart, reinstall cartridge, etc. HP cartridges have expiry dates on them (check yours) after which the printer will not accept the cartridge for use.

For printing only (not copying) you may be able to print in reserve mode by removing the color cartridge. Same error message as before and the only way to use the printer is to take out the left (tri-colour) cartridge.Any further appropriate suggestions gratefully received. hello, some of the time the color ink cartridge can cause the problem, especially if its a refilled ink, but at same time, i do know some of the new inks right out of the box will fail. From all of this, we now know there is a recognised fault with chips on cartridges been a source of the problem. Put the cartridges back in and close the printer.

I did un-install the whole of the HP software and re-installed it through the original disk. Load unused plain white paper into the input tray, and then try the alignment again.Recycle or discard the page.
